"Re-Mixed Media Art" with Deborah McDougall
Find your creative self! (No previous art experience required.) Artist developed this eye-catching form of mixed media art using scraps of mat board with other materials and papers, creating a pleasing and unique piece of art work. Your creation will be ready to frame and display on a wall. Composition, texture and color will be discussed along with examples and demonstrations. We will be using lots of glue and then acrylic paint (with metallic!) to finish off the art work. You will be amazed at your results. All materials provided by instructor.
I've always had a creative tendency beginning with pencils and sketch pad as a child. What inspires me the greatest is nature with an endless supply of color, shape, pattern and textures. Water based paints, inks and pastels are found in my work, either alone or in any combination. My most recent art works are very "tactile" with use of an assortment of materials- including scraps of mat board, original painted papers, acrylic paints and lots of glue. Upon completion, each piece is protected with a clear finish. My goal in larger pieces is to give the viewer a story, eyes flowing across the work with a sense of being there and enjoying the journey. Smaller pieces are strong enough to make a single statement. I thoroughly enjoy the creative process and am always thinking of new ideas. My education includes earning a BA in Art. I am fascinated with the evolution of art from prehistoric cave drawings to where we are today with so many materials to choose from. One way or another, an artist will find a way to create.
